A missing Templates button and a search that returns no results are different problems. First identify your platform and whether the library exists in your app. Then check the search, connection and specific template instead of repeatedly reinstalling CapCut.

Research scope: official pages checked on October 12, 2026. CapCut’s desktop documentation conflicts; this guide explains that conflict rather than claiming the same feature exists in every version. No app testing is claimed.

Start with the platform you actually use

CapCut’s template search guide documents mobile, web and PC search. It says a missing mobile Template button can reflect version or device availability. However, its empty-search help page says desktop has only limited built-in templates without search.

Those statements do not establish one universal desktop experience. Inspect your installed version: if Templates and search are present, use them; if not, try the official mobile or web route available to your account. Do not call an absent desktop button a fault merely because a different guide shows it.

Where the tab is available, open Template and use the search field. CapCut also documents opening a real CapCut template link from a TikTok video. A generic link in a caption is not necessarily the in-app template handoff described in the guide.

Use a simple keyword before a long phrase. For an original practice exercise, try “travel,” then inspect the result’s number of clip slots. A template with twelve short slots is a different editing task from one with three longer ones, even if both show a beach.

Do not choose by preview appearance alone. Compare your available footage with the required structure before adding every clip.

Separate a library problem from a single-template problem

Try another simple search or another available template. If the rest of the library works, record the failing template link rather than treating the entire app as broken. If nothing loads, check the network and reopen the app.

An original diagnostic log might read: “Mobile app, search tab visible; travel and birthday both empty on Wi-Fi; same result on mobile data; ordinary project opens.” That tells support more than “templates do not work.” It is a reporting example, not a test performed for this article.

Update cautiously and preserve drafts

Check for an official app update. If you clear cache on Android, distinguish it from clearing app data. Reinstalling should not be your first step when you have local drafts whose recovery you have not verified.

CapCut’s empty-search help notes that regional library availability can also be temporary. A missing library is not proof that subscribing will fix it. Avoid unofficial app downloads offered as a shortcut to unavailable features.

Check the preview before filling every slot

Look at duration, framing and included text. Replace placeholders carefully: a caption saying “our wedding” should not remain in a holiday montage. Check whether the template’s crop keeps faces and objects visible.

A template that loads successfully can still contain paid resources. Inspect badges and the export panel before investing in a long edit. Use our vertical framing guide if replacement clips are being cropped badly; changing resolution alone will not fix composition.

When a plain project is the better route

If your goal is simply three clips with captions, a normal project may be faster than resolving a particular template. Assemble the sequence, use a consistent text style and follow the mobile caption guide.

If the template loads but rendering stops, move to export troubleshooting. For help with persistent library failures, report the platform, app version, exact search or link, and whether other templates load.
